After a few years with my trusty iPhone 5S, I was able to upgrade to the iPhone 7 a few weeks ago and have been in the process of re-downloading all of my favorite apps. While I love the classics (Instagram, Snapchat, Venmo, Bitmoji, my banking app), I’ve also found myself downloading some more fun and productive apps that I miss from my iPhone 5S. Here are some of my favorites:
A kind of Instagram with a focus on curated photo stories, Steller is beautiful and fun to look through. I discovered it through one of my web design classes when we had to post our own Steller stories and have loved browsing through the curated and beautiful images ever since.
This was a must-have app when I was living in NYC this summer and needed to find my way around the city. The app will give you walking, driving, and public transportation options from Point A to Point B and was clutch in helping me figure out not only what subway lines to take but also how to find my destination after exiting the subway station. I will definitely be using this app when I return to the city this summer.
I used this language-learning app all the time in Denmark to brush up on my Danish outside of class. My mom has also used it to practice her Spanish and learn French. Though I don’t know how fluent you can become using the app, it makes practicing a language feel like a game and is more productive than spending hours messing around with iPhone games.
Nike + Run Club
This is my favorite app to track my outside runs. It times your miles, gives you the exact distance you ran, outlines your path on a map, and even gives you encouragements when you hit major milestones on your run. I think you’re also able to hook it up to Nike + compatible gear, but it works just as well as a basic run-tracking app and it’s free!
Lots of quick-serve restaurant chains have rewards programs, but in my opinion Panera’s is one of the best. Because I eat at Panera and use my rewards card all the time, the app makes it much easier for me to track my rewards and figure out when I’m getting my next free meal or pastry.
